My First Avocado

I have failed so many times trying to change “lifestyle” with diets for most of my life. As I am continuing to learn more and work on living a cleaner, healthier life, there are some things that have come to light that make sense on why I have failed.

A “lifestyle” change is exactly that, a change. Prior “changes” that I have made could actually qualify more as manipulations. All I cared about was the number on the scale and not the over all health of my body because of the nutrients I was putting in my body, or NOT putting in my body. This is why I would manipulate my favorite foods to fit within my points, have major cheat days, or literally hiding sweets while no one was looking. All of these diets have the same fatal flaw, they allow for manipulation and don’t teach how to actually be healthy.

That brings me to: What is that? Just a couple of days ago I had my first avacado of my life, and actually liked it. A true “lifestyle” change involves eliminating the old and bringing in the new. So I finally tried that, fruit! The first time that I saw avocados in a grocery store I seriously did ask: What is that?

My diet is what I can focus on right now while I work on becoming healthy. The only exercise I really can do at the moment is walking. Don’t get me wrong I am ecstatic to be walking without being in pain, but I can not wait to start learning how to build muscle the proper way so not to injure myself.

So outside of eating my first avocado what else am I doing to become healthy.

  1. First and most importantly I am eliminating processed foods, as many of them as possible. Including not cooking with vegetable oils of any kind.
  2. Adding as many vegetables to my diet. Not grains like corn or potatoes.
  3. Managing carb, protein, and calorie intake
  4. Biggest one next to eliminating, Learning and researching how to get closer to clean living.

I might sound crazy and only time will tell if I can actually change my eating and fitness “lifestyle”, but if I can be there for my family then it will all be worth the work and challenge.
