A very valuable lesson was learned this past weekend.
Self motivation is absolutely key for me to succeed in almost every aspect of my life. The four key areas that I have to focus on are:
- Church
- Family
- Myself
- Work
For all of these I pretty much manage my own schedule, including work, as my home office is the base of operations and then travel is based on a schedule that I set. Without self motivation none of this is going to happen.
This past weekend I can honestly say that I lost all motivation to do things. Which is not good because then I start to think of all the things that need to get done and I go into anxious, tired, I am done with this mode. Not the first and most definitely will not be the last time this happens. What I found though is that if I do not focus on my nutrition or my physical fitness this is when everything seems to fall apart.
NUTRITION:
Prior to the weekend and through the weekend my diet had become very heavy on the red meats and sweet potatoes. There is nothing wrong with either one of these but to become reliant on them I found that my body was not reacting very well without my fish or shrimp that I have introduced to my way of living. Because of this I felt kinda bloated over the weekend and this led to a lack of sleep, which led to a miserable weekend, motivational speaking.
FITNESS:
With the lack of motivation my normal fitness routine that I have been working on over the past couple weeks got totally shot down as well. This only made matters worse, of course, as I no energy going into the evening and I was not giving my body any exercise to get it moving in a positive direction.
THE FIX:
Monday, I forced myself to do my set fitness routine, while also making sure that I had some fish or shrimp throughout the day. I ended the day feeling much better about things and woke up today, Tuesday, feeling much better than I did over the weekend. Like most things in life motivation is not going to always be there, but you have to find your way through things sometimes.
Motivation is not going to come from others, and it is not going to come from “things” or money. You have to have a purpose a reason that is so strong that you will make sure to do what is needed to be done. Also you have to make sure you have designed a system that when your motivation wavers just a little you are able to deal with the situation and build your motivation back up. Don’t look for motivation from others, look for it within yourself!
